Biography

Dick Watt has practiced law in Texas since completing both his undergraduate and legal education at The University of Texas at Austin (B.A.1969, J.D. 1972). Mr. Watt was a founding partner of the Houston firm of Watt, White & Craig, and was with that firm until 1990, when he became a partner in Haynes and Boone. From 1991, until forming the present firm, he practiced alone, emphasizing general civil litigation, oil and gas, and oil and gas litigation. Mr. Watt is an author and speaker at numerous legal and oil and gas industry related seminars. Mr. Watt is currently a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston, American, and Fifth Federal Circuit Bar Associations, and is licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He currently serves as the Chair of the State Bar of Texas Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section and co-chair of its Pattern Jury Charge Project. He has been named a "Texas Super Lawyer" by Law and Politics/Texas Monthly for 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 and a Lawdragon 500 member by Lawdragon Magazine for 2005-2006. Additionally, he is an active participant in the oil and gas and ranching business.
